AteMate 5.0 is our biggest update yet. The journal you know is still here, and everything you have logged is exactly where you left it. What is new is a companion that helps you make sense of it: your AI Coach. Here is everything that changed.
Meet your AI Coach
The headline of 5.0 is the AI Coach, a companion built right into the app that helps you understand your own journal.
Until now, AteMate surfaced your patterns on the Insights page and left the interpreting to you. The AI Coach adds a new option: when you are not sure what a pattern means, or where to start, you can simply ask.
What it does:
Answers questions about your own patterns in plain language, for example "Why do I crash every afternoon?" or "What do my better weeks have in common?"
When you ask, it can draw on the full context of your journal, going back months, across food, mood, sleep, movement, and hydration.
Connects the Why behind your choices (the reflections and moods you log alongside meals) to how you felt, something no numbers-only view can do.
Gets more useful the longer you journal, because it has more of your history to draw on.
How to use it:
Open the AI Coach tab.
Tap a suggested question to get started, or type your own in "Ask a question."
Your past conversations are saved under History, organized by topic, so you can find them again easily.
Good to know:
Your AI Coach is powered by AI. It can occasionally get things wrong, and it does not give medical advice or replace your doctor. The final say is always yours.
The Coach only draws on your journal when you ask it a question. It is not reading your data in the background.
Your coaching allowance:
Access to the AI Coach is measured as a monthly coaching allowance, how much you can talk to your Coach in a given period.
Every plan includes the full journal, everything you already use, with no journal features removed. The plans differ only in coaching allowance:
AteMate includes light daily coaching allowance as a preview.
AteMate Coach includes regular daily coaching allowance.
AteMate Coach Plus gives you the most coaching allowance for true deep dives.
As an existing subscriber, you are most likely on the AteMate plan. This was our only consumer plan until we launched the AI Coach. Nothing changes here, except you now have access to light daily coaching to give you a taste of what AI Coach can do.
If you reach your AI Coach allowance for the period, you can keep journaling as always, and your allowance resets at the start of the next period.
A fresh new look: the bloom
You will notice AteMate has a new icon: a five-petal bloom.
Each petal represents one of the five parts of your health, Food, Mood, Hydration, Movement, and Sleep. The five equal petals stand for balance between them, which is what "Find your Healthy" is all about. The bloom replaces our previous icon and appears throughout the app in small moments and milestones.

Simpler navigation
We have streamlined how you move around the app so the things you use most are easier to reach, including quick access to your journal, your Insights, and your new AI Coach. Everything is where you would expect it, with fewer taps to get there.
More on this here.
Everything you already know is still here
5.0 adds to AteMate. It does not take anything away.
Your complete history and all past entries are intact.
Photo journaling, quick capture, and the five pillars work exactly as before.
On-Path and Off-Path, the Insights page, calories and macros as optional tools, all unchanged.
Your settings and preferences carry over.
Your privacy has not changed
- No ads, and we never sell your personal data.
- Your journal is never used to train AI models without your explicit consent.
- The AI features are yours to control. (You can turn off Food AI and Nutritional analysis (Macros), if you don't want them. There is no on/off switch for the AI Coach, but it only runs when you ask it a question.
