Setup Custom Reminders

Setting up reminders to remember to track a meal, or be reminded when it's time to eat!

Written by Tom

Set up custom reminders with your own motivational wording to help yourself remember to journal. There are two different kinds of reminders that you can set up within AteMate from the menu on the Journal page or Profile >> Settings >> Reminders.

"After Meal" Reminder

These reminders can be set up for a certain time after a meal, with custom questions like, "How was it?", "How is my energy?" or "Am I still hungry?". Great way to remind yourself to reflect on your meals and how you are feeling. It's a powerful tool in building a healthy self-awareness.

Fixed Time Reminder

Reminders can also be set up for a fixed time of day. For example, "It's time for breakfast!" at 7:30am or "My eating window is closing for today" at 7:00pm if you are experimenting with intermittent fasting.

These reminders work using the same technology as Push Notifications, so you will need to enable Push Notifcations when asked by the operating system for the reminders to work properly.

Setting Custom Reminders

Setting reminders can be a great first start, as you will begin receiving them based on what you have set.

If you accidentally set too many reminders in the beginning, that's ok. If it starts to become annoying, you can always go back in and adjust them to what you prefer.

It's important to be patient in understanding the food timing and getting the messages lined up, but once you have this down, these reminders will be extremely useful.

You can also change the text in your reminders often and have fun with it.

Sorting reminders

By default, reminders are shown in the order created. However, if you would like to sort them by reminder time (for the Specific Time Reminder), you can do this by tapping the customize icon at the top of the page.

This will open the sorting menu, where you can change the order the reminders are shown.
