This is entirely up to you. On-Path and Off-Path mean whatever you decide they mean. It might relate to your goals, to whether a meal nourished you, to whether you ate with intention, or simply to "I chose this on purpose." There is no master list of On-Path foods, and there never will be.
Off-Path is not a failure. You can eat something with full enjoyment and proudly mark it Off-Path, and that is a healthy, honest use of the feature. The same meal can be On-Path one day and Off-Path another, and both are correct. The point is the small pause for reflection, not judgment. No one will scold you. It is about understanding you and your own habits.
If the self-rating ever feels like pressure rather than awareness, you can turn the feature off entirely. To do so: Profile > Settings > App Setup > "Hide On/Off-Path".
Other ways to think about On-Path or Off-Path
Deciding whether your meal is On-Path or Off-Path is entirely up to you, but if you would like more guidance, here are some ideas to consider.
Try an Experiment
One approach is to try an Experiment (if you are looking to build new habits and need some inspiration on where to begin). If you have set an experiment and a meal or habit fit what you were aiming for, you might mark it On-Path; if not, you might mark it Off-Path.
Food Allergies and Sensitivities
Are you trying to get to the root of a possible food allergy or sensitivity? Another approach is to notice how your body responds: if you experience no adverse reactions, you might mark the meal On-Path; if you have a reaction, Off-Path. This can be helpful because later you can view all of your meals in a grid and see what you marked On-Path and Off-Path.
Overall Well-being
You can also notice how your food choices affect your energy levels, mood, and overall well-being. Meals that leave you feeling energized and satisfied might be On-Path, while those that leave you feeling sluggish might be Off-Path. Ultimately, what On-Path and Off-Path mean can vary based on your personal goals, preferences, and lifestyle. Explore different approaches to find what works best for you.
